| Rebuilding Lives One Bike at a Time |

Community Bike Shop is a bike repair shop that presently services bikes from the Springdale, Siloam
Springs, and Rogers school systems as well as walk-ins off the street. We are located in downtown
Springdale.
The shop began this past June as a Social Enterprise of Youth Strategies. CBS is run by students at the
Alternative Learning Environment in Springdale, trained by the staff of Lewis & Clark Outfitters, and
supervised by Youth Strategies Staff. The goal of the program is to provide an internship opportunity for
at-risk youth to develop the technical skills that come with a shop like this and more importantly, the
administrative skills and experience it takes to run and manage a small business.
Each participant receives a My Case Pro evaluation which helps them identify their skills and interests.
They develop a 5-year plan for their life including educational goals. Our goal is to place these interns
into more permanent positions with one of our business allies we call our Business Champions.
The measurable outcome of the program will be increased graduation rates, greater classroom
participation, successful completion of the Arkansas Career Readiness Certificate, and a stronger, more
qualified addition to our area's work force.
